Amy Barbour, Principal
Dr. Amy Barbour received her bachelor's degree in English with secondary education certification from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She then began teaching ninth grade at South Johnston High School in North Carolina in 1996. Having taught all levels and content areas of high school English in North Carolina and Alaska, Dr. Barbour came to Houston County in 2004, teaching at Houston County High School.
After serving as English Department Chair for two years, Dr. Barbour served as an Assistant Principal at Houston County High School before coming to Veterans High School as the Assistant Principal for Instruction. She served as the API from 2010-2018, and was named principal of VHS in 2018. Dr. Barbour holds a master's degree and a specialist degree in School Administration and Leadership from Georgia College and State University, and a doctorate of Curriculum and Leadership from Columbus State University. Her husband, Lt. Colonel Stephen Barbour, is active duty Air Force, serving at Robins Air Force Base. They have two children, Hannah and Landon.
Mark Antley, Assistant Principal
Dr. Mark Antley earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Savannah State University. He is a veteran of the Department of the United States Navy/Marine Corps. He earned his Master and Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. Dr. Antley earned a Doctorate in Curriculum and Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.
Dr. Antley's educational experience includes teaching and coaching at Beaufort Middle School in Beaufort, South Carolina. His other experience was as an Assistant Principal and Mathematics Instructional Coach in Baldwin County where he also coached football and track. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and enjoys fishing.
Ashley Brock, Assistant Principal for Instruction
Mrs. Ashley Brock received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Georgia in 2005. She also has a master's degree in accomplished teaching from Georgia Southern University and a degree in educational leadership from Valdosta State University. She returned home to Houston County to teach English at Warner Robins High School, where she worked for 11 years. She has received both gifted and advanced placement certification and taught all levels of high school English. She also coached cheerleading and served as the English Department Chair.
Mrs. Brock joined the Veterans High School staff as the Assistant Principal for Instruction in 2018. She lives in Perry with her husband, Zach and her daughter, Peyton.
Chad Simmons, Assistant Principal
Mr. Chad Simmons received his bachelor degree in Physical Education from Georgia Southwestern State University in 1998. He went on to receive his master’s degree in Physical Education from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2002. Lastly, he obtained his specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in 2008.
Mr. Simmons began his career coaching both football and baseball. During 16 years of coaching high school football, he won two state championships.
Mr. Simmons served as an assistant principal at Northside High School from 2016-2018. He joined the Veterans High School staff as the strength and conditioning coordinator and an assistant football coach for the 2020 school year. In 2021, Mr. Simmons transitioned to the role of Assistant Principal. In 2024, he also became the Athletic Director at Veterans. Mr. Simmons and his wife, Jenni, have three children: Ti, Lydi and Hudson.
Shawn Masters, Assistant Principal of Discipline
Mr. Masters lives in Warner Robins with his wife, Daphne and their two children, Darby and Brooks. He loves to hunt, fish, and play golf.
Dana Morris, Assistant Principal/CTAE Supervisor
She began her career in education as a math teacher at Houston County High School in 2005, then came to Veterans High School when it opened in 2010. Prior to transitioning into an administrative role, she taught various math courses throughout the years, including Honors Geometry and AP Statistics, and served as the Math Department Chair from 2019 to 2022.
Mrs. Morris is the wife of Tony Morris and the proud mother of two teenage boys, Harlen and Harrison Morris.
